name change

There are lots of exciting changes coming up, and I think it’s time for this blog to evolve along with the rest of my life. Now that I’ve been posting here at TVfT for almost a year, I’ve gotten a much better sense of what this blog is–and isn’t. To be honest, it isn’t what I initially set out for it to be: a chronicle of my life and adventures here in Korea. Turns out, that was pretty much the last thing I wanted to spend my energies chronicling this year.

What I think has become apparent is that health and wellness are what manage to hold my attention and keep me passionate. In my view, this includes nods to things that bring me joy–like a particularly great session with a student or an exciting trip. Mostly, though, this means discussions and reflections about healthy eating and attempts to stay motivated about exercise, mostly yoga.

And that’s where I need your help. I’ll be changing my last name when I get married in October, and I realize my full name as a URL isn’t the easiest to remember for some folks. So although I’ll keep olivialindquist.com/blog for practical reasons and forwarding visitors, I’ll be switching this operation over to a new home. What are your suggestions for a new web address? Myviewfromthere.com and Aviewfromthere.com are both open, but I’m tempted to go in a new direction entirely. Unfortunately, I’m having a creative block, but I trust you talented folks will have some great ideas for me. Right?

Hi Olivia – Congratulations again on your engagement :)

As someone who changed her blog name three times in 4 years, I totally relate to feeling like a name/theme no longer fit. My best advice is to write down lots of words that you like, and start playing with them in lists and combinations, and see what jumps out at you. That’s what I did for my second blog name (City Girl Lifestyle) – but it stopped fitting, and the url was not available, so I got cgldaily.com, which put way too much pressure on me to post daily.

This time, I picked something very descriptive – City|Life|Eats because I wanted my blog name to really get across what the blog is about, and i wanted the url tobe short, and available with no tweaking. So far it seems to be working.

Your blog seems more about healthy living than Korea, so I might go with that. GreenJunkieLiving.com ?

I gotta say I love anything with health words and “junkie.” :P I will think of some and send them your way. xo
